Spice Tour in Zanzibar

The spice tour was incredible.  We walked around a spice farm, with a guide picking spices and fruits right off the trees for us to try. We each got to drink fresh coconut juice, which is honestly one of the best things I have ever tasted. I also got a forest makeover, with a homemade leaf crown and leaf necklace and "lipstick" which came from a very bright red fruit. We learned about the medicinal uses for certain spices, like the fact that coconut and clove oil together work as a painkiller.  After the tour we were brought to a family's house where we visited with some local children and were given the opportunity to buy perfumes, coconut oil and spices.

All the spices we smelled and all the fruits we tried went into this little leaf cone.

These star fruits are like fresher sour patches.
